Great work on this. A lot to like, and a lot I wouldn't have seen thumbing through you tube highlights in my spare time. I actually like his release, a lot. And for sure, basically no turnovers? Results like that fly right past the level of competition argument.
I was super confused when people made an issue of the release - that's one of his best attributes. the torque he gets on the ball with that quick of a release is insane. throws a great ball.
it is definitely a factor - but no, nothing yet. Combine will be important. He's got everything else physically so i'd guess the hand size comes with it.
There's a part 2!? Youre pretty much spot on with Lance. The negatives aren't something to make a team really worry about him, and its more we didn't get to see him play as much as we would all like. The negatives will always be the lack of competition and lack of playing time. His game truly fits this offense as you have said, and I think we do got a shot at him barring we don't win more than 2 games. But yeah he needs to pick a different number over 5 because that's an ugly number for a QB haha.
They are similar in terms of NFL Readiness. Wentz in his 2nd season was already MVP candidate, would not be surprised if Lance did the same. They are pretty similar as players too, but Lance is miles ahead as a decision maker, and accuracy as well.
NFL Comp - I really can't think of one. He's soooo unique as a prospect. Dak is not a good comp because Lance is far better as a prospect, and he's just in general got a better feel for the game. Gregg Rosenthal compared him to Andrew Luck which I can see. I see a lot of Tua in him, but Tua hasnt played much in the NFL. So some combo of that.
I'm thinking he's best served with a year behind a vet, or at least part of a year (like Tua just did). Just to allow him to adjust to the speed of the pro game. As good as he looks, that's going to be a challenge.
Very nice compilation of analysis and film, all of which would make Lance an appealing pick.
I looked at the standings, and as a pointless exercise, speculated what might happen if draft were to happen tomorrow. Currently ahead of 9ers in the first round are 12 teams, seven of which I believe would prefer to take of the top 5 QBs (Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance, Trask), and they are:
JETS -- Lawrence
JAGS -- Fields or Wilson
WASHINGTON -- Fields or Wilson
DALLAS -- Lance (if Prescott walks, is traded, is cut)
CAROLINA -- Trask (Bridgewater stays at least one year to mentor Trask)
ATLANTA -- Lance (if Dallas passes)
DENVER -- Jones (Elway's eternal Holy Grail QB search, at least competition for Locke)
By season's end, the above will all be scrambled and rendered absurd, but, idle Covid time will produce some ramblings.
Yeah. Prescott should be staying, and Carolina just paid Teddy big time money. I think Jets, Jags, WAS, Atlanta, and possibly Denver are the teams - Elway has consistently said that Drew Lock is the past, present and future in Denver. But we will see. Should be interesting.
The more I study Lance, the more I like him in Shanahan's offense. This kid looks like the full package for what we need, and honestly, even beyond that.
Riqo - have you ever checked out the You Tube series JT O'Sullivan (yeah, that one) does called QB School? He's got one on Lance. It's pretty good stuff.
Thanks. Worth the time, especially since I found some (time). The more I see the more I like, right down to the smaller details and nuance.
It's pretty clear that some of what I've read about him being a running QB are just people looking at production stats and not investing any time in actually watching him. This kid doesn't run out of flight or fright like a lot of the "running QB's" do. He's in total control.

Meant to ask. Any idea on his hand size? Serious question. I'm becoming a believer that matters maybe even more than people talk about it.

12 feels good to me hehe
8 - young
12 - ?
16 - montana
12 is actually retired for John Brodie, but 15 looks better than 5!
Also how do you compare him to Wentz coming out? Best nfl comp (present or past)?

I see some Russell Wilson in his game. Can shed some tackles with a strong base, throws a great deep ball with good arc that drops into the receiver.

Great double-article Riqo. Some questions:
- what draft pick number do you think is his ceiling & floor?
- I'm no scout, but he looks like he's putting in more effort to throw the distance he's achieving. Do you see what I mean?
- what's his moxie & leadership like? Lynch always bangs on about "makes the team better / elevates his team mates". Does he tick this box?
- If we draft him, what do you think Shanalynch will do with Jimmy, BDN and CJB? Who stays, who goes etc.?
- Is Lance your number 1, 2 or 3 QB for our team specifically?
- Which DL do we actually draft in the first round instead of Lance? 😉😉

Have not seen it. Will check it out but yeah, about the fit - Lance just screams Shanahan to me. Has been for a while.
I really liked this breakdown from Waldman. Pretty long but it's super detailed - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oP3O1C3PUc
