Appreciate the good work Sporty.

Guess I'm nuts, but I'm not worried about our cap situation, and in some ways I even like the flexibility we have with so many FA's. To me this was inevitable and is solvable too. Inevitable because when a regime churns a roster like this one needed to, this is what you get about 4 years later. And here we are, right on cue. And solvable for 3 reasons.

1. More money than Spotrac (or my favorite, OTC) shows

2. The million ways you can structure contracts to manipulate cap

3. Paraag

Keep in mind, cutting Dee Ford post June 1 opens $16M in space with a $4M dead hit. That by itself signs the rookie class and leaves money for 2021 operations (barring a repeat of this years injuries). Also look at Kittle's salary, and then look at how small his cap hit is in 2021. Expect something similar with TW and Sir Fred. Those guys are as good as locked up IMO. Also keep in mind that no matter what the decision is with Jimmy G, he's cap money in the bank.

I'll stop short of predicting who's staying, going, coming in as new FA's or how we'll draft, but above is why I'm not worried. We'll get around the cap. I do hope we keep the following UFA's:

Blair, Hyder, Either or both of Sherm and Verrett (I'd guess only 1, but wouldn't be surprised at all if it was both), Reed, Juice, Garland and Bourne. I'm sure there's others but those are guys that seem more interchangeable with outside FA's in the same price range.

Fun read, Sporty and SirL, entertaining, informative, thought-provoking. Hope to see at least Verrett and Hyder back. Looking forward to your next draft evaluation. Thanks for the time you put into this!

Thanks GCM, appreciate the compliment. Yes, I've been impressed with Hyder and Verrett has been very strong, but he deserves to be paid and we lack funds. It will be interesting to see the decisions at CB this season, expecially with Saleh likely to ship off for a HC position. That's what I'm most concerned about, our DEF has held our team up the past 2 years...
