The 49ers finish off their brief stay in New York (well, technically West Virginia) - taking on the New York Giants. While both sides have sustained injuries to their stars, the 49ers talent is still head and shoulders above the Giants. Both Saquon Barkley and Sterling Shepard, two elite weapons for the Giants offense are on IR - meaning Daniel Jones will get a lot of action. The Giants recently added former Atlanta RB and Shanahan standout DeVonta Freeman, who is expected to debut as well. But against a weakened 49ers secondary, expect Daniel Jones to get plenty of opportunity with Sherman out, and Witherspoon questionable. Darius Slayton is a star in the making at WR, and Evan Engram is a freak of nature at the TE spot, with great speed, hands, and route running.
However, Jones struggles with turnovers, which the 49ers will need to give their new QB, Nick Mullens, a shot to win this. Mullens is missing his main targets but should have both Aiyuk and Sanu to throw to.
Defensively, the Giants are weird. Their DL is good, very good, with playmakers like Leonard Williams, and Dexter Lawrence - making it hard to run the ball, and they get consistent push from their pass rush. But their LB corps is decimated, very weak + and while Jabrill Peppers is a good, young safety - they simply do not have enough talent on the back-end to compete. Make no mistake, Nick Mullens will get a lot of throws if the Giants defense plays as expected.

9:07 - Robbie Gould MISSES 55 yard field goal, wide right. 6-3
7:30 - Graham Gano MAKES 42 yard field goal. 6-6
1:07 - Jerick McKinnon rushes 10 yards for touchdown. 13-6
0:06 - Robbie Gould makes 26 yard field goal. 16-6
3rd Quarter:
8:11 - Graham Gano MAKES 47 yard field goal. 16-9
3:14 - Brandon Aiyuk rushes for 19 yard touchdown. 23-9
4th Quarter:
13:28 - Jeff Wilson 19 yard catch for touchdown. Two point attempt is no good. 29-9
Predictions by FTN Staff
SF 27 v. NYG 17Â - Shanafandom
49ers win 27-17. The Giants offense is really banged up, and their depth is much worse than ours. Jones will still be under a lot of pressure and I expect a bunch of turnovers, letting Mullens game manage the Niners to a win.
POTG: Javon Kinlaw. He’s had a solid first two weeks. Now is a great time for a real breakout game. He should be stopping the run game and putting consistent pressure on Jones, hopefully forcing a fumble (He led the league in fumbles last season).
SF 21 v. NYG 17Â - Patrick Holloway
Prediction: 21-17, 49ers If there's anything I've learned about the 2020 New York Giants is that they are tough losers. Something like the 2018 49ers. Still, they are hurting and the 49ers have shown how deep they are as a roster. This will be a close game with the 49ers coming up late and winning the bloody thing. Get your heart pressure meds ready.
Player of The Game: Nick Mullens - because BDN.
SF 28 v. NYJ 24 - Riqonator
The injuries make this closer. I think Jones has a good game against our weak secondary and weakened EDGE rush - plus he is not a statue either. But Mullens goes out and finishes the job. Giants DL is no joke, as is their offense. Just need to limit momentum.
Player of the Game: Jerick McKinnon. In the absence of both Mostert and Coleman, McKinnon will get a lot of work as the primary option. Mullens does not take many risks, so McKinnon being available for screens and checkdowns will make him a focal point. Expecting a big game from Jet.
