Great analysis as always. It’s mind boggling, how PFF got Trey’s scouting report so wrong (specifically the turnover-worthy passes). NN’s own, David Newman has his brain poisoned by the PFF analysis. He’s one, trumpeting the Lamar Jackson-esque offense for Trey.
They can be lazy, but they're not entirely wrong. There is a bit of Kaepernick in Lance. Lance's running style is VERY similar to Kaepernick. Very similar builds (Kaep was 6' 4" 233, Lance 6' 4" 224). And watching Lance play reminded me very much of when Kaep first broke out and we thought the sky was the limit if he just kept developing. To me, Lance seems to be a blend of Kaepernick and Mahomes.
absolutely. i just don't think the proper context is being applied, especially in PFF's evaluation. they've evaluated 17 QBs with their ball charting process, I'm willing to bet none of them were only redshirt freshmen for their bulk of passing attempts. And when you only have 318 attempts, even a couple passes = a big percentage change. so looking at it in percentages without mentioning the actual raw numbers doesn't make sense to me, personally.
I’m getting more and more excited. He may not be on the level of Rodgers (all time great), but he’s going to be at least as good as The Hobbit from Seattle. The comps to Steve McNair seem reasonable. Putting McNair in a Shanahan offense = awesomeness.
Eternity : the time that passes from when you have drafted the QB of the future to when you see him playing in games... your FA choices seem logic and pretty good, something could probably happen in the next weeks, maybe after the June 1st. A CB seems the most need, but I would not keep Sherman if an healthy and younger option is available as CB3 (assuming the price is similar). I think the argument for the next months will be when we will see Trey on the field. Jimmy has a very low trade value now, but it will be lower if he will play bad or will have a new injury, and it could slow the Trey development if he play "too well". If Trey will become the starter after 5-6 games we could be forced to release him at the end of the season. I don't hate Jimmy and I hope the best for him, but I see a potential mess with the actual situation. It will be interesting, at least, while waiting for the eternity...
A really great in-depth article riqo. So many opinions about Lance are reduced to one-liners (both by the usual media suspects and the fans).
I’m possibly one of the fewer fans who think Lance will be clearly better than Garoppolo long before the season starts. He has the arm, mobility, athleticism and, in my view, superior processing. Only Jimmy playing at his absolute best is good enough to hold him out—and even “Best Jimmy” still frequently throws Interceptions, takes sacks that he could have thrown away, and picks the wrong options on his throws.
Maybe Shanny will want to protect Lance for a gentler introduction to the League, but I think he might equally want to expose him asap.
Great article. So much better than nearly all the other writing out there.👍👍
I agree that the positions that "might still need help" are WR, TE and CB. Our views on how to do that differ a bit ... here's how I'd try to get it done:
SWR: Excess depth at RB; therefore, trade RB Raheem Mostert (won't be extended >2021) to the Jets, who need RB help, even up for SWR Jamison Crowder.
TE: Assuming that Philly doesn't find a trade partner for Ertz, sign him as TE2 when Philly releases him outright; a better player (especially as a blocker) than Burton.
CB: I'm absolutely with you on Steven Nelson ... much better value than either Sherm or Breeland.
Save the cap space for Warner and rollover and the draft picks since we're already short in 2022.
Why oh why did it take me so long to find an actual true fan blog?! Dude, those intangibles or x-factors or those unlearnable or unteachable skills that you bring up are soooooooo spot on the money. These are absolutely why ShanaLynch was so impressed once he dug into Lance.
Great great article and I'm happy to read great takes (not just homer-ish takes like I admittedly put out there) from awesome fans.
Good job hermano, I look forward to more reading here..... I found you through NN BTW 👍

We don't know yet which scouting report is accurate. Hopefully this one but we don't know who is right or who is wrong yet.
More so, the turnover worthy passes vs raw accuracy. Also, I feel the Lamar Jackson/Kaepernick comps are lazy.

But I agree. All yet to be proven right or wrong

Great analysis as usual. Thank you.

Slow down there 🤣... but yeah it’s exciting. We will see how it goes

Crowder looks like a June 1 casualty, so not sure we'd have to even move Mostert to get him.
Ertz would be ideal, but I also feel that he'd go somewhere where the target load + salary would be higher.
Agreed on the rest. Warner we should be fine anyways
