Incredible win. I also did not like how much Jimmy was not going downfield, but hey - I can't blame him. This rams defense is tough and getting an explosive passing game downfield is hard, so props to both Shanahan and Jimmy for executing this gameplan. But i will say that some of my fears about Jimmy still remain. Great win though, and i love seeing jimmy go out there and show out
I had to work and missed alot of the second half, but in the first half it seemed like when we needed to downfield Jimmy got it done more often than not. There were 2 clutch plays to KB on a 2nd or 3rd and 18 and the next play. The td pass to Aiuyk gets Jimmy points for finally standing in the pocket, divering the ball, and taking the hit.
Jimmy had some very good throws tonight, and a few really bad throws tonight. I think that is what Jimmy is and at this point he is the best we have. Recievers need to step up and catch balls that hit them in the hands.
Yeah he has a few very Un-Kittle moments. Remember that weird fumble vs. The falcons that probably cost us the game last year? He also had the 2 pt attempt drop vs the eagles- even though Beathard should have run it in. And more than one whiffed block that doomed a play this year.
He's one of my favorite players, and THE best TE in the game, but he makes some mental mistakes still.
Great write up, Verret, Warner, and Kinlaw really stood out to me. I know a Kinlaw is weird to point out but I saw a lot of double teams on him so he is eating space on runs and it’s a matter of time before he gets to the QB. On offense, Jimmy’s footwork was the biggest thing that stood out to me...it was indescribably better that any game this season. Also, Hasty should Be RB #2
Verrett and Warner were on fire tonight. Warner is quickly becoming my favourite player in Bosa's absence and I'm made up for Verrett, he's been balling.
And finally, Shanahan and Saleh calling a good, creative gameplan.
What will undoubtedly be lost in all of this is how close disaster felt because of the refs nearly buttfumbling calls: a "fumble" after one of our RBs (I forget who) gave himself up, the "fumble" on Garoppolo's forward throw, etc. All the right calls were made, but boy howdy was I having panic attacks over the potential of the refs handing the ball to the Rams on the goal line for no reason.
As for the game, Verrett MVP, Warner and the O-Line were fantastic, and Garoppolo executed well. 'nuff said.
Jimmy did what he was asked to do and executed the game plan. There were more drops than normal, with a couple by Kittle which is really unusual. Hold on to those and we're probably talking about an even bigger margin of victory. But right now that doesn't matter. The W in division and starting off "The Gauntlet" 1-0 is what matters.
If we can start getting more players back than go out, the Forty Niners will be the team nobody wants to see up next on their schedule!
Hat tip to the coaches on this one.
Pat said this but Saleh can point to this in his HC interviews. Best coaching I've seen from him thus far

Hes always been a hit or miss QB imo and the stats back it up. Kittle had some uncharacteristic drops though

Hasty has to be above Coleman in the hierarchy by now- it felt like as the game went on, Shanahan trusted Hasty more and more

Well done Lads.
Verrett is on his way back to the pro bowl

I'll never understand why the NFL can never find good refs - for that pay, how hard can it be?
