The funny thing is the "big" contracts are the smallest worries for 2021. Those are the ones with players in our long term plans which means safest (or at least most logical) to plow the cap hit into future years (see G. Kittle).

About the QB position what do you think will be the role for Rosen ? What is usually said is "if they were high on him didn't wait so long to grab him from a practice squad", but the opposite could be true as well, if they had no expectation from him they didn't grab him. So, I think it is possible they will loose every faith in him just after few weeks, but it seems more probable to me that he will be the QB2 next year, and it could have sense with JimmyG as QB1. CJB and NM are both worthless at this point, if they are better than Rosen it can be only marginally, with less potential and the need of a new contract. So it could be JimmyG or a drafted QB or a traded QB1 (Stafford ?), and these solutions are equally logic and risky, but no solution could be risk free at this point. I don't see a veteran like Fitzpatrick AND a round 1 QB because Rosen would be a complete waste of money/time as QB3 behind both.

It depends on what Shanahan saw from Rosen in practice these two weeks. I suspect they’d like him to compete for the backup job during camp - both Beathard and Mullens are free agents. As for who the QB1 is, I don’t know - but I highly doubt that Rosen will influence the decision of going with Fitz and a 1st rounder as you alluded to. His cap hit is minimal and they easily can cut him. He won’t limit any decisions I feel.

Love your articles Riqonator. Keep going! (There’s some Trey Lance fanboy has taken over your Slack account though—not so sure about him...)😘

It’s 2021 people! I’m buying a Jimmy G jersey to set the ball rolling! Offseason is the best season (when you have a shit season).

And 2021 will be Solly’s year, wherever he ends up. We should run a sweep on that. What if we package him up with CJB and send him to the Chargers for Joey Bosa? Surely our cap can handle all that!

While I’m not Riqo in the slack. I 100% agree that Trey Lance is the next coming of Russell Wilson.

Hey guys,

I haven’t been around in awhile, focused on NN. riqo, these articles are fantastic! Very, very good!

I was wondering what you think will happen in the QB room this offseason, and which FAs we will re-sign. IMO, the 3 most important or Williams, Verrett, and Juice, with Wilson Jr., Bourne, K. Williams, T. Pepper, and Moseley being worthy mentions. I just wanna know, what’s your take on this, and where do you think it will (and should) go? Also, a mock draft article soon would be cool!

Personally, I want us to restructure JG’s contract with heavy performance incentives, then roll with a rookie at backup QB. Wilson, maybe. I really like him, but don’t want him starting Y1. I think we re-sign Trent to his contract, then with the extra cap from Ford and Richburg’s departure (along with the cutting of Nzeocha) re-sign Verrett and Wilson Jr. I think Juice will make it back as well on a cheaper contract. Besides that in FAs, I have no clue what we will do.

For a mock draft, I see us taking CB Surtain in the first (don’t think Wilson will fall), C Meyer in the 2nd, EDGE Cam Sample in the 4th, and others further down. I think they will play it safe and stick with Jimmy. If Lance drops to 12 overall I’m sure they’ll pick him and sit him behind Jimmy.

Personally, I’d move on now, get the cap relief and keep our team deep while finding a bridge and drafting a long term guy.

It’s hard to say. The Buckner trade signified to me that this team will pick the younger cheaper talent over the older, more expensive but proven talent.

But QB is a whole mother beast
