Sorry for this coming out so late! This is a weird week with no game on Thursday, but at least we got a Tuesday one? Riqonator should be posting later today so enjoy the extra FTN content! Last week was devastating and I have little hope for this week. I’m really not sure what to expect against the Rams, so the other games will be a nice distraction leading up to Sunday night! Friendly reminder that because Bills@Titans were OTB (off the board), it won’t count towards last week’s lines.
Last Week’s Scores: 9-4
Last Week’s Lines: 6-6
Overall Scores: 51-20-1
Overall Lines: 37-34
Texans @ Titans
10:00 am PT TEN -3.5
The NFL’s newest villains had a blowout win against the Bills on Tuesday, and are only getting healthier. Of the 17 players that started this week on the injury report, only one (DaQuan Jones) currently has an injury designation. Playing on such a short week sucks, but Houston is the perfect opponent. I’ll give props to Crennel for his win over Jacksonville, and will gladly root for not-Bill O’Brien, but the Titans are too hot. And 2020 taught me the villains usually win.
Shana’s prediction: TEN wins 20-17
Bengals @ Colts
10:00 am PT IND -7.5
Right after getting his first win, Burrow and the Bengals offense completely collapsed against the Ravens. It took a field goal within the last minute to prevent a shutout, but at least Cincy avoided it. The offensive line is a major issue, and is going against a tough Indy defense. Philip Rivers still is not doing much for the Colts, but I don’t think he will need to against Cincinnati.
Shana’s prediction: IND wins 21-16
Falcons @ Vikings
10:00 am PT MIN -4
Who else is still angry about the Vikings blowing their game last week? If they simply kicked a field goal instead of going for in on 4th down, they would have been up by 8. No one should have been surprised about that ending. We see drives like that from Wilson all the time. Anyways, the Vikings are showing some fight after a terrible start. Runningback Dalvin Cook will miss this week, but Alexander Mattison is a more-than-suitable replacement. Falcons Head Coach and well-known choker Dan Quinn has finally been fired, and Defensive Coordinator Raheem Morris will take over as interim coach. Julio Jones is off the injury report, and the offense is getting healthier. This should be a close game and is one of the more unpredictable ones this week.
Shana’s prediction: MIN wins 33-28
Broncos @ Patriots
10:00 am PT OTB
I first posted my prediction for this game last week, before it got delayed. Assuming that Cam Newton would not play, I guessed a 21-13 win for New England. Obviously, Cam’s return is a big boost for the Patriots. Drew Lock himself is making process, and Head Coach Vic Fangio said he would list Lock as probable if that was still an option. I wish “probable” still existed, it was great for fantasy players. Here’s hoping this game can be played and won’t be pushed back a second time after there as another positive test in New England.
Shana’s prediction: NE wins 31-20
WFT @ Giants
10:00 am PT NYG -3
After leaving last week’s game against the Rams with an arm injury, Kyle Allen will once again be starting for the Football Team. Dwayne Haskins is questionable with a non-Covid illness, but his future in Washington is looking bleak regardless. Opposing QB Daniel Jones is having a sophomore slump (2 TDs, 5 INTs), and will continue to struggle against the Washington front 7. It doesn’t look good for Jones, but I will trust most quarterbacks over Allen.
Shana’s prediction: NYG wins 24-23
Ravens @ Eagles
10:00 am PT BAL -9.5
The Eagles’ injury woes on offense continue with Matt Pryor landing on the Covid list. By week 6, Philly will have 5 different offensive line combinations. Alshon Jeffrey and Desean Jackson still won’t be able to play, but Greg Ward and Travis Fulgham really stepped up in recent weeks. After Fulgham’s strong play against Pittsburgh (10 catches for 152 yards and 1 TD), I feel less bad about his big touchdown against the Niners. The Ravens have some banged up corners, so the Eagles offense shouldn’t be horrible, but I doubt they have the talent to beat Baltimore.
Shana’s prediction: BAL wins 36-24
Browns @ Steelers
10:00 am PT PIT -3.5
After 6 weeks, I am finally starting to believe in Cleveland. The offense is very talented, and Mayfield was able to beat a great Indy defense without Nick Chubb. He is questionable right now (ribs) and should play. The Steelers are a strong team, but will miss key players in wide receiver Diontae Johnson and guard David Decastro. A win for the Browns would secure their status as a major threat in the AFC.
Shana’s prediction: CLE wins 27-23
Bears @ Panthers
10:00 am PT CAR -1.5
Try and convince me both teams are just as good as their records indicate. Chicago is coming off a Thursday win, where they finally beat a good team. Except the Bucs looked terrible that game thanks to Thursday Night shenanigans. Carolina’s offense has been consistent all year, with a very young defense stepping up in recent games. The defense recently lost Kawann Short for the season, leaving Carolina to rely even more on its youth.
Shana’s prediction: CAR wins 30-20
Lions @ Jaguars
10:00 am PT DET -3
After a good start, Jacksonville’s weakness are truly showing. They just don’t have much talent on defense are are forced to pass with Minshew too much. The Lions are also really weak on defense, but are coming off a bye and have a more balanced offense.
Shana’s prediction: DET wins 34-28
Jets @ Dolphins
1:05 pm PT MIA -9.5
As most Niners fans saw, the Dolphins aren’t completely terrible. Brian Flores is looking like a good coach, and Ryan Fitzpatrick is insane when he gets hot. He is certainly due for a Pickspatrick game, but he’s going against the Jets. They are a complete mess and the worst team in the league. To make matters even worse, star Le’veon Bell was released after barely being utilized by Gase. And Joe Flacco will once again start because Darnold is hurt. The Jets, as always, are doomed.
Shana’s prediction: MIA wins 28-10
Packers @ Buccaneers
10:25 pm PT GB -1
I would never have thought this coming into the season, but Green Bay looks like the toughest team in the NFC right now. Rodgers is having a great year even with an injured receiver corps, the run game is amazing, and the pass defense is solid. The run defense is pretty questionable, but how much can you run when you need to keep up with Rodgers? Kenny Clark’s return should help the run defense as well. The Bucs have the front 7 to challenge Green Bay, but Brady’s age is showing. He does get Godwin back, but Rodgers will also get Adams.
Shana’s prediction: GB wins 33-26
Chiefs @ Bills
2:00 pm (Monday) PT KC -5
No one said the NFL was fair. Bell decided the join the Chiefs, and I don’t blame him at all. I don’t think he’ll get too much action on Monday, but he will be a big threat in following weeks. Both the Chiefs and Bills are among the best teams in the AFC, and are coming off devastating losses. The Bills in particular had a terrrible performance by Josh Allen and are on a short week. Allen should be able to bounce back, but the Chiefs are still tough and better rested.
Shana’s prediction: KC wins 33-31
Cardinals @ Cowboys
5:15 pm (MNF) PT ARI -1.5
Poor Dak. After going down with a gruesome injury, it’ll be very difficult to get a good extension next season. Hopefully, he can bounce back next season. He seems like a good guy and he deserves to be paid. Andy Dalton is one of the best backups in the league, and has plenty of talent around him on offense. Dallas still has a shot of winning the weak NFC East. The Cardinals lost the very underrated star Chandler Jones for the season, a massive blow to their defense. The rest of the team is getting healthy, and should be set to beat the Cowboys.
Shana’s prediction: ARI wins 31-27
