The 49ers have flown to the East Coast on a relatively easy two game road trip, the first being against the New York Jets. The Jets most notable offseason move was by far, trading away superstar S Jamal Adams to our division rival, Seattle, for big time compensation including 2 1st round picks and Bradley McDougall, well worth it. The Jets are a very weird team. They have young pieces like Sam Darnold, Mekhi Becton, and Denzel Mims, who should be future stars if everything goes right, and the same on defense, with Quinnen Williams and Marcus Maye being the headliners. But this team also has a lot of issues, namely with coaching: Adam Gase has been an absolutely abysmal play caller and talent developer, setting Sam Darnold back each year he stays - Adam Gase is all but already out the door. They also have a lot of veteran players for a rebuilding squad, like Avery Williamson, CJ Mosley, LeVeon Bell, and of course, the incomparable Frank Gore. The 49ers legend is somehow, someway, still going strong in Year 17 as the latest in line for the Jets RB throne. Gore also mentioned he is going to retire with SF. Celebrate!
Their run defense is outstanding and will continue to be so, with their only issues coming against mobile QBs. This means that the passing game will rely on Jimmy Garoppolo to do some big time heavy lifting - which will be tough with Deebo Samuel and George Kittle out.''
1st Quarter:
14:43 - Raheem Mostert rushes for 80 yard TOUCHDOWN to begin the game.
6:45 - Nick Bosa goes down with injury. The cart has come out, looks to be a left knee. I’m afraid to say that it looks awfully similar to an ACL injury.
3:35 - Jets 41 yard FG by Sam Ficken is good. Solomon Thomas also goes down with knee injury, seems to also be a serious injury. Dropping like flies.
2nd Quarter:
10:01 - Jordan Reed 18 yard TD reception from Jimmy Garoppolo.
0:11 - Jordan Reed 4 yard TD reception from Jimmy Garoppolo
Halftime: 21-3
3rd Quarter:
Jets start with ball, Jimmy Garoppolo has a ankle injury and Nick Mullens has taken over. Raheem Mostert is also ruled out.
8:53 - Robbie Gould 46 yard FG is GOOD.
2:52 - Sam Ficken 25 yard FG is GOOD.
4th Quarter:
10:23 - Jerick McKinnon rushes for 18 yard touchdown.
Predictions by FTN Staff
SF 24 v. NYJ 13 - Shanafandom
Niners win 24-13. For all the Niners’ injury woes, let’s remember the Jets are down their two best skill position players, Jamison Crowder and Le’veon Bell. New York is a terrible team outside of run defense. Combined with our injured receivers, that’s the only reason I’m not predicting more points for the Niners.
Player of the Game: Jaquiski Tartt. New York’s biggest offensive hope is TE Chris Herndon. Tartt will be in a great position to make plays on the ball and I expect a big day for him.
SF 27 v. NYJ 13Â - Patrick Holloway
Niners win 27-13. I'm scared with all the 49ers injuries, but then I look at the Jets and know they are just not good. It's similar to the 49ers under Kyle Shanahan in 2017, the Jets have heart, but they are outclassed by the rest of the NFL except for a few key pieces. If the 49ers struggle, let alone lose to the Jets, it's a huge problem for 2020.
Player of the Game: Nick Bosa. The Jets won't be able to guard the 49ers defensive line and I expect sacks all day. Bosa will lead the charge and keep the Jets from crossing midfield until the second half.
SF 23 v. NYJ 17Â - Riqonator
On the first game of a cross-country road trip, I think SF will start off slow and warm up. The Jets have some spots of strength but are simply not deep or good enough to compete with a Super Bowl caliber roster - not to mention the coaching is bad. Still, they match up well and the 49erz are very injured, which makes this game close.
Player of the Game: Jordan Reed. In the absence of Kittle, Reed should have a big game with a lot of targets vs the Jets front seven.

As I'm here...looking forward to a bounce-back game today, just as well we face the Jets and the Giants with all these injuries. Deebo and Kittle really need to get back soon as we do not have enough receiving talent on the field without them to beat a good defense (I have pretty much given up on Pettis after last week's performance).
