49ers 33 - Patriots 6: Back On Track
The 49ers improve to 4-3, smacking Cam Newton and the Patriots en route to a 27 point blowout in one of the most dominant 49ers wins to date.

(Foxborough, MA) - All you need to know about today’s win: The 49ers did not punt even once til 3:06…. in the 4th quarter. The 49ers eviscerated the Patriots in a dominant showing against the Patriots, who are not a bad team at all. This was the most impressive showing by the 49ers this season and proves that this team is not a mirage - they can still compete despite injuries at basically every position.
First things first: this was a masterful defensive performance. The 49ers finally held their own vs. a mobile QB, and one of the best mobile QBs in the league at that - Cam Newton. Newton was shut down by Saleh and his unit, holding him to just 98 yards passing in 9 completions on 15 attempts. Just 19 rushing yards allowed, and he was intercepted 3 interceptions. Tarvarius Moore was incredible, as well as Jamar Taylor and Emmanuel Moseley. The entire secondary played amazing, and you have to consider whether the 49ers go back to Jimmie Ward after Moore’s performance today. He just brings a different, playmaking element to the back end of this defense and it shows in how the CBs trust him. They can take more risks to make plays on the ball because of Moore’s range as a safety and it changes this dynamic.
Offensively, the 49ers were just as good. Garoppolo was once again sharp, despite throwing 2 interceptions, completing 80% of his 25 attempts for 278 yards and 0 TDs. The TDs in large part came from Jeff Wilson Jr, who averaged 6.6 yards per carry in a 112 rushing yard, 3 TD performance, he was absolutely dominant. JaMycal Hasty got run late in the game and capitalized as well, with 56 rushing yards of his own and 16 receiving yards. Against a stout Patriots defense featuring the defensive player of the year in Stephon Gilmore, Kyle Shanahan devised a masterful gameplan to capitalize on his players and their explosiveness - namely, Brandon Aiyuk who had 6 receptions for 115 yards.
Dominant. They had almost 17 minutes more of possession today. That is the word to describe this performance, but the 49ers cannot take the foot off the gas - they visit Seattle, play GB at home. Those two have the hottest QBs in the league at the moment, and then they travel to the Superdome for the matchup with the Saints, and then finally the Bills after the bye week. 3 NFC teams are going to be a big problem.
The 49ers did not escape unscathed. Jason Verrett went down in the 1st quarter, but he seems to be OK - but the bigger issues: Deebo Samuel had a hamstring injury and was ruled out as he walked off. Jeff Wilson on his 3rd TD of the afternoon also got injured, and was carted off with an ankle injury. The injuries just can’t stop coming, and the turf did not help.

JAMAR TAYLOR WHAT A GAME
My god, to my eyes Aiyuk looked utterly Awesome. Absolutely Silk. Smooth as silk running; silk hands. Him and Kittle (and Jimmy) on 3rd and long today were fantastic!
